Southland's eldership team chooses to relate on a friendship basis to New Covenant Ministries International (NCMI). This means that we collectively embrace the same core values at local church level as NCMI. It must be clearly stated that NCMI is not a denomination, but a group of friends that relate on a covenantal basis.
NCMI has no head office, official membership roll or central board and its influence in local churches is through relationship and invited authority. The NCMI team, led by Tyrone Daniel, consists of men and women who have an established record of credibility in the local church context and who are released by their local churches to function apostolically and prophetically in a translocal context according to their God-given anointing and gifting. Most of the 250 couples that are members of the team also continue to serve as elders in local churches and their apostolic travel is usually funded by the local church. Currently, NCMI is actively working into nearly 90 nations world-wide and God continues to open new doors.
As a local eldership, we regularly invite friends on the NCMI team to provide honest input, teaching and perspective into all matters of church, including doctrine, finances, focus and the ordination of new elders. Even though we are not obliged to accept apostolic input and counsel, we choose to be accountable in these covenant relationships. If the local church is not willing to invite input or accept counsel from the apostolic team, the leadership is more susceptible to error. We strongly believe that these accountable friendships help us to build a healthy safety net to ensure that Southlands builds on the foundation of the apostolic and the prophetic as mentioned in scripture.
Our relationship with NCMI enables us to be part of the call to go into all the world, as we support apostolic ("translocal") ventures by sowing resources, finances and people.
