What to expect when visiting

Our Sunday morning gathering starts at 10.30am with coffee and a chance to catch up with the family in the relaxed environment of the coffee lounge. Some announcements will be made about the coming week and then everyone goes upstairs for the main meeting.

Don't come to Southlands expecting tightly followed traditions, strict schedules or predictable routines. Because God is the reason we gather, we never want our own scripted plans to get in the way of what He wants to do among us. If that means adding some unplanned songs to our worship, inviting people who want prayer to the front during the middle of a service or scrapping one sermon for another at the last minute, so be it. Usually, Sunday mornings consists of some singing, some "family time" (news and announcements) and a sermon that delves into the Word of God.

We have been entirely transformed by the love of God, and are therefore expressive and exuberant in the way we demonstrate our love back to God. We may sing loudly or softly, with joyous dancing or quiet contemplation, but our worship is always directed toward Jesus, for His pleasure. You will not be forced into expressing yourself in a prescriptive or controlling way. Our times of singing are usually followed by a talk that addresses practical life and spiritual issues - relevant for those desiring to learn more about Jesus as well as those who are seasoned in their walk with God.

What should I wear?

God does not judge us according to our external appearance. We invite you to dress in a way that is comfortable and real for you. Whether that is a suit, jeans and trainers with a t-shirt or flip-flops, you and your family will be warmly received.

What's available for my kids?

We know that as a parent you need be sure that your children are in a SAFE learning environment. And we know that your children are looking for a FUN place to learn. We've invested a lot to make sure that both of these goals are reached. You'll see that in the spaces the children meet in, and even more in the volunteers who work with your kids.

Our children are very valuable to us, and it is a high priority for us to ensure their well-being. Some mornings the children attend worship with their families in our main gathering and then after worship they head off to their respective age groups in children's church, which we call Promised Land. Other mornings the children spend the entire meeting in Promised Land.
